EQHP Walking Tour – Baths & Bars
July 8, 2023 @ 11:00 am – 12:30 pm MDT
Join us for a special tour focused on Edmonton’s 2SLGBTQ+ community bars and bathhouses. Our tour begins at the location of the infamous 1981 police raid of the Pisces Health Spa, which resulted in the largest mass arrest in Alberta’s history! The raid had the unintended effect of launching Michael Phair’s legendary career of activism, including becoming the first openly gay politician in Alberta’s history and a 15-year run on Edmonton’s city council.
This tour will be hosted by Michael Phair and Rob Browatzke.
We are pleased to be able to provide ASL interpretation for this walking tour. Please notify us at least one week in advance when you register.
