SUMMARY:Len & Cub Photo Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Leonard “Len” Keith and Joseph “Cub” Coates were a queer couple in the rural New Brunswick village of Havelock in the early 20th century. Len & Cub features Len’s photos of their life and tells the story of their relationship against the background of same-sex identity and relationships in rural North America of the early 20th century. While keeping their sexual identities closeted\, they captured their decades-long relationship via photographs. This remarkable material is as important socially and historically as their story is one of the oldest photographic records of a same-sex couple in the Maritimes.  \n\n\n\nWe invite you to witness the unique love\, friendship and lives of Len & Cub to challenge contemporary ideas of about sex and gender expression in the early 20th century. \n\n\n\nCurated by Meredith J. In fact\, don’t ever touch anyone without consent.\n\n\n\n\nDragging Youth (est 2016) is a 100% volunteer organization. Family Friendly monthly all age drag shows\, plus more support throughout the month. A place for all ages (young and old together) to perform\, relax\, enjoy\, find mentorship\, and friends in a 2SLGBTQQIA+ safe environment\, while we raise funds for 2SLGBTQQIA+ youth initiatives and other great causes. \n\n\n\nThe Unitarian Church of Edmonton is a sponsor of Dragging Youth Shows. Dragging Youth has monthly Shows at the Unitarian Church of Edmonton (UCE). UCE has no stairs going into the building or to public areas. There is a button operated door at the front. A lovely ramp for performers to get on stage. Plus accessible\, gender neutral washrooms.  Chairs in the Sanctuary are easily moved to accommodate various needs.  UCE also has a quiet room where shows can be viewed with decreased stimulus.
