SUMMARY:Special History of Pride: Creating a Welcoming City
DESCRIPTION:Michael Phair and guest lead the last walking history tour of the summer\, starting at the Art Gallery of Alberta. Revisit the moments and memories that make up the history of Edmonton Pride\, from Gay Day Anyway at Centennial Plaza through to parades ending at Churchill Square and so much more. \n\n\n\nNot familiar with our tours? Attending the conference and not familiar with the city? Don’t worry. Our friendly guides will explain everything you need to know before we start\, but you’re looking at a 90-minute guided walking tour\, rain or shine\, and our knowledgeable guides encourage interaction and are able to tailor the talk to the group. \n\n\n\nWe are pleased to be able to provide ASL interpretation for this walking tour. Please notify us at least one week in advance when you register. \n\n\n\nThe 2024 Spring/Summer EQHP Walking Tour Series is made possible thanks to funding and support provided by the MacEwan Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity\, Edmonton Downtown Business Association\, and the Stollery Community Foundation. \n\n\n\nWhat is the cost of the tour? All walking tours are free\, thanks to the support of the Edmonton Downtown Business Association\, Stollery Charitable Foundation\, and the MacEwan Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity. \n\n\n\nHow long is a tour? Each tour is about 90 minutes and will take place outside without any breaks. Please dress for the weather and bring sunscreen\, water or snacks. Tours are accessible as much as city sidewalks/streets allow. \n\n\n\nWho is hosting the tour? All walking tours are hosted and guided by members of the Edmonton Queer History Project along with special invited guests. Each walking tour participant will receive a free souvenir Edmonton Queer History Map! \n\n\n\nAre there other tour dates/themes/hosts? Yes! We are pleased to offer a variety of different walking tours this spring and summer. Check out the full program at: https://www.edmontonqueerhistoryproject.ca/news-events \n\n\n\nWhat if I can’t make any of the dates? Gather your friends and create your own queer history walking tour by downloading the Story City app\, which has two EQHP self-guided tour options! \n\n\n\nOther questions?
