DESCRIPTION:The Edmonton 2 Spirit Society is honored to host our 1st Annual Traditional 2 Spirit Pow Wow — a powerful celebration of Two Spirit identity\, culture\, and community. This landmark event will take place over three meaningful days\, each rooted in tradition\, connection\, and pride. \n\n\n\nWe begin on June 27 with Tipi Teachings\, where a traditional tipi will be set up as a sacred space for sharing Indigenous knowledge\, stories\, and teachings that honor the spirit and role of Two Spirit people in our cultures. \n\n\n\nOn June 28\, join us at Borden Park (7507 Borden Park Rd NW\, Edmonton\, AB T5B 4W8) for a full day of celebration — both the Tipi Teachings and our Traditional Pow Wow will be held on-site. Grand Entry begins at 12:00 PM\, followed by an afternoon filled with dancing\, drumming\, singing\, and ceremony\, wrapping up at 6:30 PM. \n\n\n\nWe close the weekend on June 29 with a warm and welcoming community brunch from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM\, featuring performances by incredibly talented 2 Spirit artists and community members. Millicent was also one of the creators of Flashback—a gay club here in Edmonton back in the 70s—and was the first Mz. Flashback/winner of the club’s drag pageant. The only Queen in history to hold both ISCWR and Flashback titles simultaneously just happened to be the one and only Empress Millicent. \n\n\n\nABOUT IMPERIAL SOVEREIGN COURT OF THE WILD ROSE (ISCWR)\n\n\n\nThe ISCWR is our local sovereign chapter of the International Court System and a non-profit organization formed in 1976. Their mission is to raise funds for charities and other organizations which either provide direct service to the 2SLGBTQ+ community of Edmonton or organizations which work to promote an accepting attitude toward people of all sexual and gender minorities. The core of its existence is based on delivering entertainment\, primarily through drag queens performing lip-synced numbers in glamorous and often over-the-top costuming.
