SUMMARY:Embodying Queerness: Creative Processes of Sexuality Through a Nonbinary Lens
DESCRIPTION:EMBODYING QUEERNESS: CREATIVE PROCESSES OF SEXUALITY THROUGH A NONBINARY LENS\n\n\n\nImagining what it could look and feel like to embody your gender and being without the societal constructs of the binary as an act of reclaiming the body and sexuality. Through this workshop we will use somatic embodiment practices of movement and dance to help us explore the sensations and feelings in the body which will aid us in creating our own body maps and narratives. This workshop will also challenge normative sexual scripts through both sensual and visual creative processes that emphasize queer joy and pleasure. SUMMARY:Drag King Make Up Workshop!
DESCRIPTION:Over this 1.5 hour course you’ll learn the basics of drag king makeup\, from the iconic king\, Orpheus! Orpheus has been performing since 2019\, and is Edmonton’s Greek king. In this workshop\, he will provide overviews of specialized products\, in-depth tutorials\, and share all the tricks of the trade to help demystify the artform. After taking the course you’ll feel equipped and empowered to start making creative looks of your own! \n\n\n\nOrpheus will show all the products you need to paint a drag face and explain how to best apply them. He will guide participants through a step-by-step tutorial on emulating his particular makeup style.  \n\n\n\nThis class is BYOM (Bring your own make-up).  We will supply you with a list of products in advance of the class and they can be purchased at the store of your choice. Whether you’re brand new or looking to further your skills\, BIG WIG will take you through the basics of classic huge drag hair – with a twist. \n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, you’ll learn: \n\n\n\n\nTeasing techniques for major volume\n\n\n\nWig foundations and styling structure\n\n\n\nDetailing tricks to elevate your look\n\n\n\nSignature shapes for that iconic drag silhouette\n\n\n\n\nAll participants will be provided with a wig to style and take home. SUMMARY:Pride Day at the AGA
DESCRIPTION:Visit us during our free admission hours (which occur the last Thursday of every month) and express yourself through art\, community connections and crafting. \n\n\n\nThis year\, we are hosting a cozy and comfortable space for everyone looking to indulge in a little creativity. We’ll have self-guided tours\, a drop-in session with local artist\, Allison Tunis\, a DIY craft creation area and a film screening at 7pm. Bring your own crafts to work on or use our supplies to create something that showcases your true colours. \n\n\n\nAbout the programs: \n\n\n\nTraumatic Times Drop-In Poster Printing with Allison Tunis  \n\n\n\n4-5:30pm \n\n\n\nJoin local artist and community arts facilitator Allison Tunis (she/they) for a drop-in session to customize and screen print your own 8×10” poster. The poster aligns with the artists’ Pocket Toolkit for Traumatic Times series and will feature a new Pride-themed design outlining the therapeutic technique of bilateral stimulation. Posters can be printed with a choice of two colours of ink and on your choice of coloured cardstock. Expected time commitment is approximately 10 minutes per participant and prints will be available to take home. All experience and ability levels welcomed. Registration not required\, time will be allotted on a first come\, first served basis. \n\n\n\nA DIY Cozy Craft Creation \n\n\n\n4-7pm \n\n\n\nHave some crafts laying around you’ve been hoping to work on eventually? Or a project you have in mind but don’t have the supplies on hand? \n\n\n\nJoin us for in our DIY Cozy Craft Creation!
