In partnership with the Edmonton Oilers and Pride Tape\, this year’s event will feature multiple games including a media vs community leader game\, an Edmonton Oilers and Edmonton Oil Kings alumni game\, and the main event will see the Edmonton Rage defend their Pride Cup championship title against the Calgary Pioneers. There may even be some surprise guests from the current Oilers organization in attendance. \n\n\n\nMark your calendars for this OEG Sports & Entertainment signature event with gates to ICE District Plaza opening at 10:00 AM\, and puck drop at 1:15 PM on Sunday\, August 27. ASL provided. \n\n\n\nThe landscape for Trans and gender-diverse people has evolved and changed in numerous ways over the years. There is a rich and oftentimes little-known understanding of and knowledge about the history of Trans and gender-diverse people. \n\n\n\nThough an emerging dialogue\, there is little discussion about how that history can inform the struggles and challenges faced by Trans and gender-diverse people today. Currently\, there is a discussion about a gender revolution happening in Canada\, where a number of provinces have published statements affirming the need to improve health care for Trans and gender-diverse people. However\, simultaneously\, six provinces have passed anti-trans and gender-diverse legislation\, specifically focusing on restricting gender-affirming care and education for youth. \n\n\n\nThe goal of this presentation will be to put current discussions and debates about Trans and gender-diverse people in a historical context with a focus on the evolution of the discussions and debates about trans and gender-diverse human rights. DESCRIPTION:Leonard “Len” Keith and Joseph “Cub” Coates were a queer couple in the rural New Brunswick village of Havelock in the early 20th century. Len & Cub features Len’s photos of their life and tells the story of their relationship against the background of same-sex identity and relationships in rural North America of the early 20th century. While keeping their sexual identities closeted\, they captured their decades-long relationship via photographs. This remarkable material is as important socially and historically as their story is one of the oldest photographic records of a same-sex couple in the Maritimes.  \n\n\n\nWe invite you to witness the unique love\, friendship and lives of Len & Cub to challenge contemporary ideas of about sex and gender expression in the early 20th century. \n\n\n\nCurated by Meredith J. DESCRIPTION:Michael Phair and Rob Browatzke lead our first Walking Tour of the summer in conjunction with the National Queer & Trans+ Community History Conference. The tour starts and ends at the Macewan Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity (Roundhouse in Allard Hall\, but don’t be surprised if we stop somewhere extra special mid-tour for a quick coffee inside a space that is a legendary part of Edmonton’s queer history! \n\n\n\nNot familiar with our tours? Attending the conference and not familiar with the city? Don’t worry. Our friendly guides will explain everything you need to know before we start\, but you’re looking at a 90-minute guided walking tour\, rain or shine\, and our knowledgeable guides encourage interaction and are able to tailor the talk to the group. \n\n\n\nWe are pleased to be able to provide ASL interpretation for this walking tour. Please notify us at least one week in advance when you register. \n\n\n\nThe 2024 Spring/Summer EQHP Walking Tour Series is made possible thanks to funding and support provided by the MacEwan Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity\, Edmonton Downtown Business Association\, and the Stollery Community Foundation. \n\n\n\nWhat is the cost of the tour? All walking tours are free\, thanks to the support of the Edmonton Downtown Business Association\, Stollery Charitable Foundation\, and the MacEwan Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity. \n\n\n\nHow long is a tour? Each tour is about 90 minutes and will take place outside without any breaks. DESCRIPTION:As part of Flashback’s 50th Anniversary celebration weekend\, we are hosting a special walking tour to revisit the locations and the legends of not only Flashback but all up and down Edmonton’s gay 104st disco district. Join Ron Byers and Twiggy for this flashback moment\, on the May Long Weekend Sunday where we’d normally be crowning a new Mz Flashback.Not familiar with our tours? Attending the conference and not familiar with the city? Don’t worry. Our friendly guides will explain everything you need to know before we start\, but you’re looking at a 90-minute guided walking tour\, rain or shine\, and our knowledgeable guides encourage interaction and are able to tailor the talk to the group. \n\n\n\nWe are pleased to be able to provide ASL interpretation for this walking tour. Please notify us at least one week in advance when you register. \n\n\n\nThe 2024 Spring/Summer EQHP Walking Tour Series is made possible thanks to funding and support provided by the MacEwan Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity\, Edmonton Downtown Business Association\, and the Stollery Community Foundation. \n\n\n\nWhat is the cost of the tour? All walking tours are free\, thanks to the support of the Edmonton Downtown Business Association\, Stollery Charitable Foundation\, and the MacEwan Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity. \n\n\n\nHow long is a tour? Each tour is about 90 minutes and will take place outside without any breaks. Dragging Youth has monthly Shows at the Unitarian Church of Edmonton (UCE). UCE has no stairs going into the building or to public areas. There is a button operated door at the front. A lovely ramp for performers to get on stage. Plus accessible\, gender neutral washrooms.  Chairs in the Sanctuary are easily moved to accommodate various needs.  UCE also has a quiet room where shows can be viewed with decreased stimulus.
