Pride Month

The City of Festivals knows how to celebrate and this year there are more Pride Celebrations than ever and they happen all Summer long. Even with no Pride Parade… Edmonton brings you more Pride Celebrations than many other cities offer.

With over 80 events planned by more than 40 Pride Event Organizers being held in 39 venues this years SUMMER OF PRIDE is the largest Pride Celebration in Edmonton’s history. Almost 70 of those events are during PRIDE MONTH.

Start off the celebrations with Edmonton’s best known popup party people celebrating 10 years of awesome fun – Fruit Loop teams up with the Grindstone Theatre to bring you 3 days of Sweat, STUD, a Block Party and Workshops. Dance the nights away and then get makeup tips, learn to pole dance or become a GoGo dancer all brought to you by Fruit Loop. Then they move downtown for their Pride Dance Party at the Starlite Room later in the month.

And Evolution Wonderlounge is the place for great entertainment shows and amazing Crowd Whisperers (DJ’s) every weekend during Pride Month. And be sure to catch Canada’s Drag Race star LEMON followed by Reid Bourgeois – a Montreal based disco and tech house DJ and producer. To cap your weekend off take in one of their legendary Sunday shows.

New to Pride Month this year is the Edmonton Drag Festival – a one day, outdoor, daylong extravaganza of drag performers. With headliners from Canada’s Drag Race and Call Me Mother and 24 local Drag performers plus a variety of vendors this event is not to be missed. It all takes place at Louise McKinney Riverfront Park below the Convention Centre.

Want to learn more about Edmonton’s Queer history then join the Edmonton Queer History Project and the Downtown Business Association as they bring you the EQHP Walking Tours – each with a different theme throughout Pride Month and the summer.

Love going to markets? Pride Month has those too. The Gay AF Market takes place at the Bellevue Community League and the Love Out Loud Night Market happens at the Aviation Museum on Kingsway.

And you won’t want to miss the 18th Annual Mayor’s Pride Brunch. Each year, the Fyrefly Institute for Gender and Sexual Diversity coordinates the Mayor’s Pride Brunch to raise funds to support their 2SLGBTQ+ programs.
