PIE stands for Public, Intentional, and Explicit. These are the attitudes and actions required to be truly affirming. As recognition of Robertson Wesley's commitment as a church to the 2SLGBTQIA community, they will be hosting a free public event for PIE Day on Friday, March 14th at 5:30. This year the threat to young trans and gender expansive individuals is especially at risk with the provincial legislation currently in progress, therefore any funds raised will be shared between RW’s affirming ministries and Egale Canada who, with Skipping Stone and several families, are suing the AB government for unconstitutional discrimination regarding these specific bills, particularly bill 26 which became law Dec 5, 2024.
The event itself is free (donations happily accepted) and will feature delicious pie, community networking, socializing, empowering words and a variety show of local performers. All are welcome!
Join Robertson-Wesley United Church in Sunday worship and at the 102 Grande Farmer's Market on June 1. We Publicly, Intentionally, and Explicitly live out radical inclusion and welcome as well as celebrate and honour all the diversity in our midst.
Worship begins at 10:30am in the sanctuary, while the market is outdoors along 102ave and runs from 11am to 3pm.
Stop by the church's booth for extra special blessings, affirmation on your unique identities (religious or not!), and enjoy some sweet rainbow treats.
Adam Slate writes, "We gather this morning as one community. A community united by common ideals: love, justice, diversity, freedom, mutual care, equity. Every one of us has their own story, needs, strengths, and faults."
Let's celebrate the uniqueness that lives within each of us.
Robertson Wesley is excited to host author and activist, Rev. Brandan Robertson for an evening of discussion, audience Q&A, and book signing. His most recent book, Queer & Christian is not only a compelling interpretation of key biblical texts but also an inspiring testament to the resilience and faith of queer Christians. It serves as a vital resource for anyone seeking to understand how queer identity and Christian faith can coexist, providing theological insights and practical advice to empower queer Christians and their allies. Books will be available for purchase at the event, or on pre-order. This all ages event is free and open to the public, regardless of religious identity.
Since 2009, Robertson Wesley United Church has been an active member of Affirm United, the certifying body and standard for inclusive faith communities in Canada. Everyone is welcome regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial or ethnic background, differing abilities or financial situation. Please know: You already belong here.

Event Listing & Graphics Disclaimer PrideEdmonton.ca is a free, unfunded, volunteer-run community listing platform. We do not generate revenue from our services and do not receive funding or grants from community or government sources. All events and accompanying graphics are submitted by independent organizers. Many organizers operate with little or no budget and may use a variety of tools—including AI-assisted design—to create their materials. PrideEdmonton.ca does not create, edit, review, or regulate submitted graphics, nor do we assess how they are produced. Our focus is on ensuring broad visibility of the many Pride events happening across the region. Showcasing this diversity of programming helps build awareness, strengthen community connection, and foster greater understanding and acceptance. Responsibility for all submitted content rests solely with the event organizers. |
