Embodying Queerness: Creative Processes of Sexuality Through a Nonbinary Lens

Grindstone Studio 9562 82 Avenue NW, Edmonton

EMBODYING QUEERNESS: CREATIVE PROCESSES OF SEXUALITY THROUGH A NONBINARY LENS

Imagining what it could look and feel like to embody your gender and being without the societal constructs of the binary as an act of reclaiming the body and sexuality. Through this workshop we will use somatic embodiment practices of movement and dance to help us explore the sensations and feelings in the body which will aid us in creating our own body maps and narratives. This workshop will also challenge normative sexual scripts through both sensual and visual creative processes that emphasize queer joy and pleasure. By embodying queerness, the body contests the stability of gender and sexuality norms and opens up to resistance and liberation.
